Nathalie Marchand, Principal Translator

 

Nathalie was born and grew up in Normandy, France before moving to London, England after completing her University Degrees. She worked as a language assistant in several secondary schools before deciding to complete her Teaching Degree. She then taught French and English in two secondary schools in west London, before relocating to Melbourne, Australia, where she is currently teaching French in a private school while working as a freelance professional translator.

 

Nathalie has developed a passion for languages and a curiosity for other cultures and traditions at a very young age. Studying languages came naturally to her and, besides English and French, she also has a very good knowledge of Spanish and German. Through translating, she relishes in using her knowledge of terminology and linguistic, but also her cross-cultural awareness to convey meaning in the most accurate and natural way.

 

Education and accreditation

 

Nathalie holds a Degree in English and French as a Foreign Language (FLE) and a Masters Degree (Maîtrise) in French as a Foreign Language (FLE) from l'Université de Rouen, France. She also holds a Post Graduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) from the University of Roehampton, England.

 

In addition, she is accredited as a professional translator (English into French) by the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI) as well as a full member of the Australian Institute for Translators and Interpreters (AUSIT).
